Bowling 20th January

Good crowd of 31 here this week, including a couple of o/sea visitors.

Two of the visitors, Rolf and David, teamed up with C.T. and Fon to win the day. C.T. and Rolf also took the two highest score prizes.

While the present handicap system generally works well, it is hard to set initial handicaps for new players. I think we may just say it's 80 for ladies and 70 for men unless the person declares they have bowled regularly before. Then it is the luck of the draw on the day.

Second spot today went to Phoo, Stewart, Dennis H and Surachot.

Only John V managed to beat his handicap in all games.

Back again next Wed as usual.

Bowling 13th January

Had the right number for 7 teams of 4 this week.

Les, R.J.,Richard and Christian were the early leaders being the only team to get over 800 in the first game. But they faltered and only managed 2nd place.

Winners were Scott, Rene, Kung and Gary L.

Good performers this week were Mike, Kung, R.J., and G.P. all bettering their handicaps in all 3 games.

Yung has had a good 3 weeks and has again taken over as our lowest handicapper.

Three players didn’t hang around for the results again and we have 200 baht to start the kitty next week.

Bowling 6th January

Been a bit slack in getting this to print this week. Been too much on!

Yung has decided to have a break from running the show and Les is back in the drivers seat. If anyone else would like to have a go for a while, they would be more than welcome.

1st event of the year was won by Gary L, Denis and newcomer John X. Gary L playing off a h/cap of 81 played real well (now back to 73 – still too high) 600 Baht

2nd place went to Phil W, Mike, Somsee and Yung. 400 B.

3rd to Richard, Les, John V and Rene. 200 B.

3 players didn’t stick around until the end and missed out on their prize money, so we have an extra 300 B to add to the kitty next week.

Stewart has been bowling real well lately and now finds himself our best bowler with a handicap of 29, so needs to bowl 171 each game – pretty tough eh !

OK see you next time - Les
