Bowling 28th October

As expected a smaller turnout of 23 this week with a few of the usual suspects away playing golf, inc regular organisers Yung & Les. Leaving it in my capable (?) hands, all went pretty smoothly even allowing for Corky playing up a bit at the start, unable to find his name!!
Welcome back to RJ & Steve both missing in action for a few months & also 1st time out for Mike's entourage Phoo.
A tie after game 1 with 3 ball Craig, Rex & Walter on 820 along with Corky, Jo, Mike & Ning.
After game 2 there were still only 2 pins separating these 2 teams, however both had been leapfrogged by Kevin, Kung, Ted & Scott...5 pins in the lead!
All to play for in game 3, but the 3 ball did just enough finishing with 2458.
With a 3 winning, we had 2nd prize which went to Corky's team who ended up with 2436.
High score would have gone to Mike with 242, sorry...insufficient funds!

It would be good if players could wait until the end for prize giving, not much to ask. Perhaps if they've gone...any money not claimed goes in next weeks pot?!

See you Wed - Scott

Bowling 21st October

A perfect 6 teams of 4 this week, but some quite low scoring. Only 2 teams managing to scramble above their handicaps. Welcome for her visit to Paing, who Ollie brought along.

Eventual winners Phil, Johns V & Q & Jimmy only managed 778 after game 1. But the 2 Johns both came good in game 3 bowling 247& 248 to clinch 1st prize (this despite Jimmys performance!), giving a team total of 2418.

Leaders after the first 2 games were a strong team of Les, Yung, Michael & Dennis, but not 1 of them managing to bowl to handicap in game 3 put paid to any chance of winning.

Kevin, Kung, CT & phyllis were pipped by just 7 pins. Remarkably Phyllis picked up high score with 252, having bowled 146 in game 1...some swing!

See you Wed - Scott

Bowling 14th October

A bigger group this week of 33 people, gave us 7 teams of 4 & 2 teams of 3. Everyone arrived on time, in fact we thought Phil W had his watch set wrong! Welcome to golf club secretary Christian who came on his motorbike during a downpour & looked a bit drenched by the time he go to us. Also great to see Craig back after his travels & hi to Dans brother Randy here for a visit.

It was quite tight this week, Yung's team scoring 808 after game 1, closely pursued by John V's team with 803. After game 2 things were even tighter with 4 teams only being divided by 34 pins, all still to play for.

However Yung & his team Stuart, DM & Rene won the day with 2479,(still not sure about that ball I saw being bowled down an empty lane!!)
2nd place was so close Yung actually handed the cash out to the wrong team, but sharp as ever Les (ex banker) saw that Scott, CT, Chris & Surachot just pipped John V's team by 10 pins.

High score was also close with Stewart & Scott both sharing the winnings with 246.

OK see you Wed - Scott

Bowling 7th October

Just a reminder, don’t forget to register with organizers as soon as you arrive. One person didn’t today and so missed out on the competition. This gave us 6 teams of 4.

Result today was a run-away win for Walter, Corky, Aoi and Scott who picked up 800B with team score of 2565 which was 148 pins in front of whoever was in 2nd place.

Colin put in an appearance after 7 weeks absence and picked up the high score 100B with a 257. Scott had the best overall performance with 685 pins and a gross of 481, followed by Yung & John R both with 480.

Overall the handicaps continue to work well. Bearing in mind with handicap teams of 4 should score 2400 and today 3 of them scored 2404, 2413 & 2417.

Same time, same station next Wed - Les

Bowling 30th Sept

Welcome back to Phil W. It's alway nice to have you back. 23 people this week making up 5 teams of 4 and one team of 3.

It was nail biting to the finish with three teams in the running for the 1st place prize. The team of D.M,Gary L and Corky were the 1st team to finish and were in the lead. They had a total team score of 2503pins. Les's team had to get 836 to win from Gary's team and they achieved that with no trouble.

Kevin's team was the last team to finish and it looked like they were going to steal the 1st prize prize away from Les's team. Like last week it came down to the last bowler to win for the team. The result ended in the same way as last week by Kevin's team losing by 7 pins. So, the winners of this week 1st place prize were John V,Jo,C.T. and Les with a total team score of 2517.

The high score went to Kevin with 256 pins .

Same time, same place-Yung
